During our stay in Las Vegas we went to the Penn and Teller show. If you love “magic” and illusion then these guys are definitely no strangers. I love watching illusionists but love knowing even more how stuff is done. Their showtime network television show Bullshit! takes a skeptical look at psychics, religion, the pseudoscientific, conspiracy theories, and the paranormal.
They are iconic entertainers who have been performing since the 70’s. Their show was amazing but definitely not as amazing as meeting them at the end. As soon as the show was over we quickly followed Teller who took a selfie of us with my phone….yes he grabbed my phone and quickly took a picture of us before letting us take a picture with Penn. Teller also spoke to us which was great as he is not known for speaking during his shows. It was the best moments of the trip….and we’re best buds with them now…okay, maybe not!
Las Vegas was an awesome place to visit. We decided to stay outside of The Strip at the very luxurious Westin Lake Resort and Spa. They sponsored our entire stay in Vegas. The resort was a dose of heaven. The entire hotel is Eastern themed with a Moroccan influence. We were given the Suite on the top floor of the hotel. Our room was amazing with spectacular views of the lake. It featured a huge bedroom as well as a private lounge and balcony.
The resort itself was breathtaking. I would love to come back during the summer. There were multiple pools to choose from, a hot tub and private cabanas with beds and TV’s. It’s the ultimate destination for anyone visiting Vegas. The Westin offers a free shuttle to The Strip which was so convenient for us.
Las Vegas is great, maybe a little underwhelming if you are not a gambler but nevertheless an experience! We did so much in Vegas which included The High Roller, visiting the “Eiffel Tower”, watching the famous Bellagio Fountains and seeing the Penn and Teller show at the Rio. Jacques also enjoyed the thrilling rides on top of the Stratosphere. I just watched from the sidelines…!
When one thinks of Las Vegas, the images of flashy lights, casinos and showbiz pops into ones head. Las Vegas is associated with it’s night life and people simply visit for the entertainment. But Las Vegas has so much more to offer its visitors. Today, Las Vegas is one of the top tourism destinations in the world. So, what else is there to do in Las Vegas other than gamble and be entertained?

There are so many things we are looking forward to seeing on our road trip. I tried to narrow down one attraction for each of our pit stops. It was extremely difficult but here it is.
New York – Times Square
This is a famous New York attraction and looks incredibly exciting. It is the soul of NYC
Pittsburgh – Duquesne Incline
There is not that much that appeals to me in Pittsburgh; however this is cool
Indianapolis – Indianapolis Motor Speedway
Indianapolis is home to the Indi 500 and this is definitely not to be missed
Nashville – Country Music Hall of Fame
What?! It is the home of Country Music
New Orleans – Mississippi River
Only because The Adventures of Tom Sawyer was my absolute favourite
Dallas – Mesquite Rodeo
We are looking forward to a real cowboy experience
Amarillo – Cadillac Ranch
Who doesn’t want to see a bunch of cars sticking out the ground?
Albuquerque – Sandia Peak Tramway
To be honest, Jacques is looking forward to this the most.
Flagstaff – Antelope Canyon
On route to Las Vegas, we plan on driving through Page to see Antelope Canyon
Las Vegas – The famous Las Vegas sign
Call it cliche, but I am seriously looking forward to taking a picture with this sign
Los Angeles – Universal Studios, Hollywood
Because this is just too damn cool to miss
San Francisco – Alcatraz
I have a weird obsession with prisons and this is number 1 on my list

Although the resort is a 20min drive from the Las Vegas strip, it works out perfectly for us as we are not gamblers. We want to experience the glitz and glamour that Las Vegas has to offer but also enjoy some relaxation and outdoor activities. The Westin Lake Resort is perfect for this. The hotel is incredibly stunning and the pictures speak a thousand words.
